Redcastle United FC

Redcastle United FC is a County Donegal soccer club competing in the Inishowen Football League. The club caters for players from the age of six right up to adults. The club's teams play their home matches at Bayview, Redcastle.

Redcastle United was founded in 1969 by a group of young men that were determined to provide a competitive soccer outlet for local players. In it's inaugural season United won a seven-a-side tournament in Gleneely. In the years following this early success the football club struggled to make an impact on the soccer pitch. In the 1972 / 1973 Redcastle came close to doing the league and cup double. United lost the cup final after two replays and just missed out on the league by a single point.

In 1973 Redcastle United and Clar Rovers merged and entered a team in the Derry and District League. Redcastle won the first Bertie Cartmill Cup, which was now the premier cup competition of Inishowen football.

In the 1990's Redcastle established it's permanent headquarters at Bayview having played home matches on fields rented from various local farmers. The new pitch and club house gave Redcastle United renewed enthusiasm and with greater organisation the club has gone from strength to strength with great success on the football pitch.
