Dublin Devils FC

Dublin Devils FC is a largely not-for-profit gay soccer team based in Dublin, Ireland. The team play friendly and competitive matches and cater for football players of different abilities.

Dublin Devils was formed in April 2005 and the Mark O'Donovan was the first club chairman. (The first gay soccer club in Ireland was the Dublin lesbian football club Phoenix Tigers.) The idea of forming a Dublin gay soccer team emerged after a friendly game in Tallaght in 2004. Gradually the number of club members rose and following the Dublin Pride sports day in the Phoenix Park the future of the Dublin Devils had been secured. Originally known as Men United the current name is now firmly established.

Dublin Devils travel abroad to compete in international competitions, including the 2006 Gay Games in Chicago and the 2007 IGLFA World Championships in Buenos Aires and London 2008. The club has hosted teams from the UK and in June 2007 Dublin Devils hosted over 20 clubs from the UK's GFSN league end of season 5 aside tournament.

The RTE Radio One program Private Passions featured the Dublin Devils on Sat 9th May 2009. Presenter Fiona Kelly took to the sideline to follow Ireland's first ever gay soccer team both on and off the pitch where she met a group of lads that were keen to defy the stereotype that gay men are no good at sport.

During the winter months the Dublin Devils train on astro pitches and in the spring/summer training is in the Phoenix Park near the Papal cross.
