Sporting Metro

Sporting Metro from Artane in Dublin 5 was founded in 2009. Established by Marc Laycock, Stephen Daly and a group of friends based in Artane. The club has it's origins in a successful Astro league team and was originally going to be called Grove Pool. The club secured sponsorship from the Metro newspaper and following a survey of the newspapers readership the club assumed the name Sporting Metro. The newspaper runs a feature on theprogress of the club on a weekly basis.

The club crest which is based on the Metro newspapers colours displays a castle which represents the old Artane Castle before it was turned into a shopping centre.
