St Francis FC

St Francis FC was formed n 1958 in the Liberties in Dublin to provide a structured outlet for schoolboy soccer in the area. In 1960 the club won the first of many football trophies at U13 level. Within a few years St Francis FC became one of the most successful Schoolboys teams in Dublin.

A decade later it was decided that the club should now join the ranks of junior football. In those days that played home soccer matches on a football pitch in Chapelizod. The team has had a number of successes in cup and league competitions. In 1990 St Francis lost to Bray Wanderers in the FAI Cup Final in front of 33,000 fans.

Following an gap of four years St Francis FC re-established the schoolboys section in 1993 and in 1997 they merged with Clondalkin Celtic.

The club enters soccer teams into the Dublin and District Schoolboys League and the Leinster Senior League. Home matches are played at John Hyland Park in Baldonnell and at soccer pitches at the Clondalkin Community Centre.
