St Jame's Gate FC

St Jame's Gate FC is a Dublin soccer football club whose roots are based in the Guinness Brewery's staff sports and social club. The club is one of Ireland's oldest soccer club having been established in 1902. In 1922 it became one of the founding members of the fledgling Football League of Ireland and the club won the inaugural league championship that year. The club went on to win the first FAI Cup Final.

Having won the league again in 1940 St James Gate were relegated in 1944. The club entered in the Leinster Senior League thereafter but in 1990 re-entered the League of Ireland structure competing in the First Division, a level below the Premier Soccer League. In 1996, due to financial constraints, the club was replaced in the League by St Francis FC.

The following St James Gate players won international honours with the senior Irish international soccer team: Paddy Bradshaw; Johnny Carey; Bob Carter; Charlie Dowdall and Paddy Duncan.
