| Wayside Celtic
FC, formed in 1948, is a County Dublin soccer club based in Jackson Park,
Glenamuck Road, Kilternan. Wayside has had a number of successes on the
soccer pitch in the past. The club won the Leinster Senior League Senior
Division on four occasions most recently in 2006. Wayside Celtic has also
won the Metropolitan Cup in 2008 and the Leinster Junior Cup in 1990. The
football club has won the FAI Intermediate Cup and the Leinster Senior Cup
three times each. Wayside Celtic have beaten League of Ireland opponents
on five occasions in recent years in the Football
Association of Ireland - FAI - Cup. They have beaten Waterford United
twice, Finn Harps, Cobh Ramblers and Monaghan Town FC.
In the past eight Wayside Celtic players have represented the Republic of Ireland soccer team at amateur level since 2000. The tower on the football club crest is the remains of the leadmines in Ballycorus, Kilternan. It can be seen from the club grounds. The club crest was designed by Wayside Member, Billy Kelly. |
