Rathfarnham is a southern
suburb of Dublin 14. It shares boundaries with Templeogue
and Terenure. The suburb has many fine
amenities including access to the Dodder river, Bushy Park and Marlay
Park, Rathfarnham Castle, two shopping centres - including Nutgrove
SC, schools, library, Garda station, and many pubs and restaurants.
Rathfarnham gets it's
name from the Irish Rath Fearnain or the fort of the alders.
Many notable historical figures have had connections with Rathfarnham
down through the years including, William Connolly, John Philpot
Curran, Sarah Curran, Anne Devlin, Robert Emmet, Thomas McDonagh
and Padraic Pearse.
Rathfarnham has many
sporting connections including it's most famous soccer son, Damien
Duff.
