Ringsend is a southern
suburb in Dublin 4 approximately three Km from the city centre.
The suburb has a very rich soccer heritage with both Shamrock
Rovers and Shelbourne
Football Club originated in the area. Residents Bob Fulham and
Jimmy Dunne both went on to play for the Irish International football
team. Retired English Premiership professional referee, Dermot Gallagher,
was born in Ringsend. Former FAI
chief executive Fran Rooney was also born, and raised, in the area.
