Euro 2000 Qualifiers - Appearances
Made and Goal Scorers
In Group 8 of the Euro
2000 qualifiers the Irish team was drawn with Yugoslavia, Croatia,
Macedonia and Malta. Mick
McCarthy was the Republic
of Ireland manager for the entire qualification campaign. Ireland
finished in second place in the group just one point behind Yugoslavia.
This was enough for Ireland to qualify for the play-offs against Turkey.
Unfortunately the Irish lost out on qualification for the Euro 2000 finals
on the away goals rule.
Twenty-five different Irish players were
used in ten matches (including the play-off matches) during the Euro 2000
qualifiers.
