Airtricity League of Ireland - First
Division League Table
The League of Ireland First Division
- now known as the Airtricity League - includes twelve teams. Cork
City and Derry City were relegated from the Premier League to the
First Division due to financial irregularities. UCD as First Division
champions, and Sporting Fingal who qualified for promotion via the
play-offs were promoted to the Premier League. The team that finishes
in first position will be automatically promoted from the First
Division. The teams that finish in second and third places in the
First Division will enter a play-off competition with the teams
that finish in eight and ninth position in the Premier League to
determine who will fill the last Premier League position.

FAI Prize Money for the Airtricity
First Division Places
The FAI has reduced the prize fund
payable to clubs competing in the Airtricity First Division. Most
of the reduction will affect the higher finishers in the Division.
First place prize money for the Premier Division has been reduced
from €66,000 to €50,000 and second place has been reduced
from €36,000 to €20,000.
