David McMullan - Introduction
David McMullan was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1901. He played in midfield and up front in the Irish League for Distillery for two seasons before he signed for Liverpool in October 1925 under Reds manager Matt McQueen.
David McMullan & Liverpool
David McMullan made his Liverpool debut on 17 October 1925 against Manchester City alongside fellow Northern Irishman Elisha Scott playing in goal. Liverpool won the match at Anfield 2-1. He didn't get another match until the end of November however he did get a run of 11 matches from then until the end of January 1926. In the 1925/26 season McMullan played a total of ten First Division matches and three FA Cup ties.
In the following season David McMullan only made two appearances. In the 1927/28 season, McMullan's last with Liverpool, he made 20 appearances. Nineteen of these were in the Leagues.
David McMullan's last appearance for Liverpool on 5 May 1928 against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Unfortunately for McMullan and Liverpool the Manchester team won 6-1. McMullan never managed to score a goal for Liverpool. In June 1928 David McMullan left Liverpool to go to the USA to play for New York giants football team in the American soccer League.
David McMullan - Ireland Career
David McMullan made his debut for Ireland on 24 October 1925 against England in the British Home Championship. It was just a week after his debut for Liverpool and the match ended in a 0-0 draw. McMullan's other international appearances for Ireland were against Wales and Scotland. His three Irish appearances were at home in Northern Ireland and his international record reads; Won 1, Drew 1, Lost 1.
