Billy Toms & Manchester UnitedBilly Toms made his Manchester United debut on 4 October 1919 at Old Trafford. Middlesboro provided the opposition in a First Division encounter that ended in a 1-1 draw. Toms scored his first goal for Manchester United on 10 January 1920. It was the deciding goal in a 1-0 victory over Port Vale in the first round of the FA Cup. Billy Toms first league goal for United was against Bolton Wanderers on 3 April 1920. He scored another two goals in the next two league matches against Bradford Park Avenue and Bolton once again. Billy Toms last start for Manchester United was at the end of that month in a 2-0 loss against Arsenal at Highbury. Following just 14 appearances and four goals transferred to Plymouth Argyle in September 1920 for a fee of £500. |
