Killea FC |
| Killea FC is a County Donegal soccer club competing in the Inishowen Football League. The club was formed in 1962, originally called St Patrick’s, and draws players from Killea, Newtowncunningham and Carrigans. The club’s first success on the football pitch was in 1964 when the Swilly Cup was secured.
Killea FC acquired the site of it’s current headquarters from local farmer Sean Toland which is on the border of Donegal and Derry. In the beginning of the 70’s the soccer club joined the Inishowen Football League. Killea had their most successful spell under the management of former trainer of Finn Harps, Bobby Toland. During the period 1987-89 the football club won six trophies. In the 2005-06 season Killea FC reached their first cup final at intermediate level. The club lost the Marine Harvest decider to Fanad United in a penalty shoot out. |
