2010 Premier League Match Results – Airtricity League Series 2

The results for the second series of matches in the Airtricity League of Ireland Premier League are detailed below.

Bray Wanderers were the visitors to Terryland Park to take on hosts Galway United in their second Premier League clash of the 2010 season. Galway grabbed an early and commanding lead through scorers Karl Sheppard and Derek O’Brien. The only other score on the Friday evening was when Philip Knight reduced the deficit a few minutes before half time.

In a repeat of last year’s FAI Cup Final both teams played out a less than inspiring encounter between Sporting Fingal and Sligo Rovers at Morton Stadium. Gary O’Neill gave the host an early second half lead after 51 minutes. Fingal’s lead was short lived when Paisley was caught in possession by Matthew Blinkhorn who coolly slotted home the equaliser just five minutes later. That was the end of the scoring.

Oriel Park was the venue for the County Louth derby between Dundalk and Drogheda United on Sunday evening. Drogheda took an early ninth minute lead through Glen Patrick after he pounced on a rebounded save from unlucky Dundalk goal keeper Peter Cherrie.

Just after twenty minutes Drogheda went further ahead through Joe Kendrick. Dundalk were struggling to get a foothold in the match but with less than 30 minutes to go Drogheda’s Michael Daly handed Dundalk got himself sent off for stupidly kicking the ball away thus earning a second yellow card.

Almost immediately Dundalk pulled a goal back via a penalty from Neale Fenn. The home side continued to press for the equaliser which duly came courtesy of Kudozovic with less than ten minutes remaining on the clock.
