Ballinasloe Town AFC |
| Ballinasloe Town AFC is a Galway soccer football club that was formed in 1951. Initially the soccer club only had an opportunity to play friendly matches due to a lack of teams in the West in those days. The team travelled far and wide for games. In 1954 the club joined the Athlone Summer League and competed in the Beamish Cup. In 1968 the club moved from it’s pitch at Fair Green to the Curragh Grounds which at that time was rented from Ballinasloe Urban District Council. Following considerable development the club now has a 3.75 acre site at its’ disposal.
Ballinasloe Town AFC created history in 2004 when the club became the first side from the Roscommon & District League to triumph in the Connaught Cup. The Club defeated Manulla FC 2-1 at Milebush Park in Castlebar. |
